I was asked recently to share my top three tips for Querying:
- Take the thing you love most about your book—the hook YOU love and make that your center piece. Zoom out from there with the stakes for your main character. If you show off what you love about your book, your voice will shine through.
- Add a detail that makes your book different from others in the genre.
- Don’t overthink. Your query is a business letter designed to inspire an agent read more. It’s not magic, it’s not brain surgery, it’s not more than one page.
Be sure to abide by submission guidelines. If you’re interested in my query critique services, you can find them here.
